TETHERÆ will not be free forever, because running relays in two regions costs money, and a product with no way to pay for itself eventually stops being maintained. When there is a price it will be published here, in advance, and it will not be applied retroactively to the beta.
What is metered, and why
The app shows a token count where one token is one megabyte of screen streamed to that device. During the beta it exists so you can see your own usage, not to charge for it. Streaming a screen is the one genuinely variable cost in this product, so if a paid plan is ever built, that is the honest thing to build it on.
What we will not do
- Charge per machine, which punishes exactly the people who use it most.
- Put encryption, session length or platform support behind a tier.
- Sell, share or analyse what passes through a session. We cannot read it.
