macOS, Windows and Linux are ready.
The Mac build is one disk image carrying both the controller and the agent, signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarised by Apple. Windows installs the agent as a service, and is not code signed yet, so the page tells you exactly what Windows will say before you meet it. The Linux agent ships as a .deb for amd64 and arm64. The Android app is on Google Play, and the iPhone app is in open beta on TestFlight.

TETHERÆ for macOS
Version 2.0.19 · built 2026-10-02
- Tether.app, the controller, for reaching your other machines from this Mac
- Tether Agent.app, the agent, so this Mac can be reached from your phone
macOS 13 or later. Universal: Apple silicon and Intel.
Signed with a Developer ID certificate, notarised by Apple and stapled, so it opens without a Gatekeeper warning and works on a Mac that is offline the first time it runs.

TETHERÆ for Linux
Version 2.0.6 · built 2026-10-01
- The agent itself, at /usr/bin/tetherae-agent
- A udev rule granting access to /dev/uinput, which is how input is injected
- A systemd user unit, so the agent starts with your desktop session rather than as root
Debian and Ubuntu, glibc 2.39 or later. Tested on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Ubuntu 25.10 and Debian 13; the package installs and resolves cleanly on all three. Choose amd64 for Intel and AMD machines, arm64 for a Raspberry Pi or an ARM server. Run uname -m to confirm: x86_64 means amd64, aarch64 means arm64.
Not signed. Debian package signing is per-repository rather than per-file, and there is no TETHERAE apt repository yet, so verify the SHA-256 below instead.

TETHERÆ for Windows
Version 2.0.10 · built 2026-10-02
- The agent, installed as a Windows service so the machine is reachable after a restart
- The Tether app, for pairing and for granting full control
- A Start Menu shortcut, and an entry in Add or Remove Programs
Windows 10 version 1809 or later, and Windows 11. Use the 64-bit installer unless you know this machine runs a 32-bit edition of Windows. To check: Settings, System, About, under System type.
Not code signed. A code-signing certificate has to be bought rather than generated, and one has not been yet, so Windows will warn about this installer. What that warning does and does not mean is set out below.
Windows will warn you
Windows will show a blue "Windows protected your PC" box, and the elevation prompt will say the publisher is unknown. That is what Windows says about every installer it has not seen signed before. It is not a virus report and it is not a scan result.
- 1Click "More info" on the blue box
- 2Click "Run anyway"
- 3Approve the Windows elevation prompt, which appears because the agent installs as a service
If you would rather not click past a warning, check the SHA-256 below first. It is the same thing the signature would have told you, done by hand.

TETHERÆ for Android
Version 2.1 · built 2026-09-15
Installs in one tap, updates itself, and carries Google Play Protect scanning. This is the way to get it unless you have a reason not to.
- The app: pairing, your machines, full control, Rest and your weekly record
- File transfer is on iPhone and iPad only for now, not on Android
Android 11 or later. One file, carrying every processor type, so there is no build to choose between.
On Google Play, which is the way to install it: Play handles signing, scanning and updates, and there are no unknown-source prompts to click past. The APK below is the same app for anyone who cannot reach Play or would rather not use it. It is signed with the TETHERAE release key, which is what makes it installable at all, since Android refuses an unsigned package outright.
Installing the APK directly
This applies to the APK only. Installing from Google Play above involves none of it. Android will ask whether to allow installs from whichever browser you downloaded it with, and Play Protect may warn that the app was not scanned by Google. Both happen because the file did not come from the Play Store, not because anything was found in it.
- 1Open the downloaded file. Android will offer a settings switch for your browser
- 2Allow installs from that one app, then come back and open the file again
- 3If Play Protect offers to scan, let it, then choose Install anyway
- 4Turn the browser permission back off afterwards if you would rather
If you would rather not click past a warning, check the SHA-256 below first. It is the same thing the signature would have told you, done by hand.

Nothing to install
TETHERÆ in your browser
The same session as the app, in a tab: the same encryption, the same pairing code, the same key held only by your own device. Open it on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, add it to your Home Screen, and it runs full screen with no browser bars at all.
The relay carries the session and cannot read it. Nothing is installed and nothing is stored but this browser’s own identity key. Safari, Chrome and Edge decode the stream; Firefox cannot decode HEVC, so a Mac streaming to it needs the agent started with TETHER_H264=1.
Two things we will not do: ship an installer that bundles anything you did not ask for, or put a download behind an account you have to create before you can see whether the software works.
