Delete your account

From the app

1. Open TETHERÆ on your phone or tablet.
2. Tap the gear on the machine list to open Settings.
3. Tap Delete Account, then confirm.

This is immediate. It is not a request that we process later, and there is no grace period during which the account still works.

If you cannot reach the app

Email hello@tetherae.com from any address, with the account name you want deleted. We will delete it and reply to confirm. If we cannot tell that the request is really yours we will ask you to prove it from the app or from the machine you paired, because otherwise anyone could delete anyone.

What deletion removes

• The account name and the password hash, on every relay node.
• Every token ever issued under the account. Anything signed in stops working.
• Any share code you had outstanding, immediately.

The list of machines you paired is held on your own phone and never on our servers, so deleting the app removes that. Deleting the app alone does not delete the account: do both if you want both gone.

What survives, and why

Two things are kept permanently, and we would rather say so here than let you discover it later. The account name and the date you deleted it are retained, so that the same name registered again by anybody cannot inherit access the old account had. Records of access you had already cancelled are kept for the same reason. Neither holds a password, a key, a device, or anything about what you did.
